Intentional Parenting
After Betrayal

A 5-lesson self-guided course to help you protect, support, and stay present for your children while you're still finding your own footing after betrayal.

You're trying to hold your family together while your own world is falling apart. This course won't hand you a script for a pain this big — but it will give you language, tools, and a steadier way to show up for the people who need you most: your kids.

BETRAYAL DOESN'T STAY BETWEEN TWO ADULTS

You're trying to protect them.
But no one taught you how...

Even when you say nothing, your children feel the tension in the silence, the change in your voice, the way the house feels different. They sense everything and understand nothing — and in that gap, they often fill in the blanks with their worst fear: that it's somehow their fault.

You want to protect them. But you're also drowning. You're supposed to be steady for your kids while you can barely hold yourself together. You don't know what to say, how much to say, or whether saying anything at all will make it worse. You are not failing. You are parenting through something almost no one prepares you for.

INSIDE THE PROGRAM

What's Inside the Course?

Five video lessons, 30–60 minutes each, walked through at your own pace — each paired with a participant handout and the informational slides used during the lesson, so you can slow down, reflect, and come back to it as many times as you need.

LESSON 01

Understanding the Impact of Betrayal on Your Family

Before you can support your children, it helps to understand what they're actually carrying. This lesson walks
through the real impact of betrayal on kids and introduces a simple framework for recognizing where each person
in your family is standing right now - overwhelmed and aware, avoidant, or finally moving toward clarity and
hope.

LESSON 02

Developmentally Appropriate Disclosure

What do you actually say to your children — and when? This lesson breaks disclosure down by age and developmental stage, walks through what to say and what to protect them from, and covers the critical days after a hard conversation, so your child isn't left alone with it.

LESSON 03

Rebuilding Safety in the Family

Safety isn't rebuilt in one conversation — it's rebuilt in a thousand small, consistent moments. This lesson covers the practical, everyday tools for helping your children feel steady again, including how to respond when a child — especially a teen or adult child — starts setting boundaries with you.

LESSON 04

Moving Into Empowerment

Every person in your family — you, your co-parent, and your children — has their own path from survival mode into real empowerment. This lesson helps you recognize where each of you is right now, and what it actually looks like to witness your child's pain without being swept away by your own.

LESSON 05

Breaking the Cycle: Building a New Family Story

The final lesson turns forward. You'll identify the patterns you inherited, understand the protective role they once played, and — instead of just naming what you don't want to repeat — you'll build something intentional: a Family Communication Pledge that becomes the new culture you're choosing for your home.

BONUS RESOURCES

1. "Talking to Your Children About Betrayal" Guide

This is the resource we wish had existed when we needed it. A thoughtfully written, age-by-age guide with real sample language for talking to your kids — what to say, what not to say, and how to answer the hardest questions they might ask you, from "Is it my fault?" to "Are you getting divorced?" Co-written by a licensed marriage and family therapist and a certified coach, it's the kind of resource you'll keep pulling out, conversation after conversation.

2. Finding Your Core Values

A guided, trauma-informed exercise to help you reconnect with who you are — separate from the betrayal, separate from what anyone else told you to value. This is your companion resource for Lesson 5, helping you root your new Family Communication Pledge in values that are genuinely yours.

YES, I WANT THIS!

Is This Course Right for You?

THIS IS FOR YOU IF:
  • You're parenting children of any age through the aftermath of betrayal — your own or your co-parent's
  • You want language for hard conversations, not just reassurance that it'll be okay
  • You're ready to look honestly at your own patterns, not just your children's behavior
  • You want a resource you can move through at your own pace, on your own time

Meet Your Instructors

I'm Hali Roderick

TICC, ACC, CPC

Founder of Rooted and Rising Healing and host of the Rooted and Rising: Healing After Betrayal podcast. I built this course because I didn't have it when I needed it — I was in the thick of my own trauma, trying to parent while barely holding myself together.

Honestly, I couldn't even fully acknowledge the impact on my children until much later. That's exactly why I do this work now: to support other parents in this specific, disorienting kind of hard, and to advocate for the children who are quietly carrying more than anyone realizes. I'm passionate about helping individuals and families break out of unhealthy cycles and emerge from painful circumstances with healing, hope, and empowerment.

And I'm honored to do this work alongside my daughter, Morgan — together, we get to support other parents and children finding their way through this same kind of pain..

Morgan Ellsworth

LAMFT, BCC, CCPS-A, CPC

Morgan Ellsworth is a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (LAMFT) practicing under supervision in Arizona, where she owns and operates two practices: Ellsworth Family Therapy and Morgan Ellsworth Coaching & Wellness. She specializes in betrayal trauma, with a particular passion for helping families heal in the aftermath of betrayal, working not just with couples, but with the children, siblings, and extended family members whose lives are also profoundly affected.

Morgan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Family Life from Brigham Young University and a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University. She has pursued advanced training through the Association for Partners of Sex Addicts Trauma Specialists (APSATS) in working with betrayed families, as well as couples-centered recovery training with Dr. Jake Porter. She is also a Brainspotting level 2 practitioner. She facilitates Witnessed, a group program supporting teens and adult children navigating the impact of betrayal in their family systems, and hosts the Healing Betrayed Families podcast.

Morgan has presented on family systems in the wake of betrayal at multiple professional conferences. Morgan’s work is shaped as much by lived experience as by clinical training. As a betrayed child herself, she has walked her own path of trauma recovery and rebuilding trust and connection with her parents and siblings. That personal journey informs her deep understanding of just how far-reaching betrayal trauma can be, and fuels her commitment to helping every member of a family system find their way toward healing. Most importantly, Morgan lives in San Tan Valley, Arizona, where she is a wife and mother to two young boys.

HEALING HAPPENS TOGETHER

Your children will never know what this cost you, but they'll feel what you built.

You didn't choose this for your family. But you get to choose what happens next — what your children carry forward, and what they don't. You don't have to have perfect words. You don't have to have it figured out today. You just have to be willing to show up, one honest conversation at a time.

That's what this course is for.
